5th of July festivities

Because time on the ship is arbitrary and the 4th fell on a field day, so we moved our celebration to the 5th. After lunch and before afternoon snack we all went to our bunks to come up with costumes for a party with an "American as apple pie" theme. We all gathered on the quarterdeck and had a little costume parade followed by snacks, music, and punch where we toasted to Neptune for allowing us safe passage.  I hope he likes punch.  Here is the entire crew.

Some of my favorite costumes. Caroline as the annoying American tourist shaking the hand of Sarah Palin (played by Marina), Zach the cowboy gets scalped by Mike, Ian as "Joe the plumber," and Giora and Miles reenact the US Marine Corps War Memorial.

After a pleasant afternoon break, we all went back to our regular duties.  Nothing like a little break in the routine to shake things up and it was nice to chat with the lovely members of the other watches that I see fairly infrequently outside the watch change meetings.
